OUR STORY

Our story began in 2016 with a simple realisation: the city needed more intimate spaces where performances could be experienced, not just seen. As passionate theatre-goers, we craved venues where live art could feel personal, immersive, and engaging - a place where audiences could connect deeply with the work and the artists behind it.
This inspired the creation of OddBird, a space designed to make the performing arts approachable and fun. We set out to demystify the experience, breaking down the barriers between stage and seat, and inviting everyone - artists and audiences alike - to be part of something meaningful.
Previously, performances at OddBird have been enabled by the foundation and presented at our venue. Today, OddBird Theatre presents and programs work independently.
The OddBird Foundation is a non-profit that actively works with grants to commission work, supporting artists in their creative development. This initiative encourages the creation of new work and spotlights independent artists.
